Building Typologies

1. Which building typology you are researching?
Hotel
Dormitory

2.Why are you researching this building typology?
I've never done any work with this type of buildings so I would like to learn

3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research.
Possible a hotel for NYC tourist, or a hotel that has a great spa and club and restaurant and green hotels still not sure about this...

4. What are the examples that you will be researching.

5. What are your goals for working with this building type?
Sustainable building
creating uses both at day and night

6.What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building?
spa, club/bar/ food/dining something for children

  1. These are very similar in their research. I might tend to look at dormitories as their are more options in the organization - various layouts. There are very different options for freshman than there are for upper leve or graduate students. Hotels tend to be very repetitive.
    Think about this when you look through your examples.

  2. If you decide to do a hotel, you might want to concentrate on a boutique hotel.
    For dormitories check the Baker house by Alto.
